Dancing & Singing in the Rain…

With a fantastic turn out on tonight’s Litter and Laugh Walk, it was great to see regular as well as lots of new faces. We welcomed Jack from South Tyneside Council who works in the marketing department and helps promote #lovesouthtyneside website & social media pages. Jack joined us not only to help but also capture the walk in pics & video.

We also welcomed Sue & Jade from The Co-Op Funeral Care, South Shields https://funeralcare.coop.co.uk/finder/south-shields/NE33-4LZ/westoe-house

Eager keen to help with the Litter and Laugh Walk in support of our local community Sue & Jade joined us. It was genuinely lovely to learn a little more about just how much The Co-Op Funeral Care do for our community. Amongst many other things they ensure the surrounding area outside their work building is cared for, clearing litter etc. We agreed it would be fantastic if other local business could work towards adopting their own patch.

The turn out tonight was a good mixture of young and old along with a couple of furry friends. Throughout the walk the children found 3 reading books hidden as part of the ‘Look for a Book, North East’ which made their night. A fantastic concept and was a joy to read with them.

Great team work was involved too dragging a crisp packet out of the lake in which the ducks were swimming around. This other wise could have caused lot of harm to the birds. No one ended up in the lake in the reaching it thankfully!

Regular Litter and Laugh Walker David Francis of the Green Party came along and was joined by a few of his fellow green party members – they are massive advocates of the Litter and Laugh Walk. All in agreement that it is also therapeutic walking and talking, meeting new people whilst collecting litter. Knowing you are doing a fantastic job in the community whilst helping to save sea and river pollution.

Tonight’s walk seen us cover 3.18 mile with approx 10.2K steps. On top of that we burned approx 315 calories. So helps with the fitness levels too.

Despite the rain at the end, it didn’t dampen spirits. We were all warmed through with complimentary hot drinks at the http://westoe-hub.co.uk/ where we were all looked after as per usual. Highly recommend the Lattes there.

Big thanks also go to my fellow team mates at Goldfinch Estate Agents http://www.goldfinchestateagents.co.uk/services/market-appraisals/ who give their free time up to come help.

Tonight was a fantastic show of community spirit! Heres to the next one. If you would like to join in then please keep an eye out on our Litter and Laugh Walk page of facebook for further details or contact myself, Angela on angela.todd@goldfinchestateagents.co.uk
